Mischa Barton loves her handbags, whether by Chloe, Fendi or Chanel. "I think bags and shoes are a large part of an outfit and they definitely make a statement. I really love handbags, I always have," says Mischa. In fact she loves handbags so much that she designed her own collection of handbags:



Mischa involves herself in every stage of the designing process, from drawing sketches to picking fabrics, and her handbags retail for anywhere between £20 to £145. "When the bags started doing well, that made it a lot easier to have more say and the company (ASOS.com) had more faith in me and my style."

Mischa Barton has several upcoming movies like Don't Fade Away, Homecoming, Bhopal: A Prayer for Rain, and The Science of Cool. Mischa will also play a model in an upcoming TV series, The Beautiful Life, on The CW network:

It was on TV that Mischa Barton became famous; in her role as the pretty and trend-setting Marissa Cooper on The OC. Marissa veered through alcohol abuse, depression, and many relationships, including a lesbian romance with Alex Perry, played by Olivia Wilde.

Mischa Barton has had other lesbian trysts onscreen: kissing Shantel VanSanten in You and I, and Evan Rachel Wood in the TV show Once and Again. Mischa's success on The OC has dwarfed her previous acting performances, and few people remember her as the "vomiting dead girl" from The Sixth Sense.

On The OC Mischa was made to color her hair lighter and she says her skin color was also altered: "They bronzed me so much for the show. I'm such a pale person naturally."



In 2007 Mischa Barton worked with The Institute of Cancer Research and Superdrug to promote the Safe campaign; encouraging people to protect their skin from sun exposure, using sunscreen with SPF 15+ protection even when its not too sunny. Barton's pale skin is because of her heritage; she was born (24 January 1986) in London to an English father and Irish mother. "People have no idea how truly English I am," she told Harper's Bazaar. Mischa premiered her own line of headbands late last year. She describes her taste in clothes as "girly, feminine, and kind of English. I don't try to dress like anyone else." Bartons says that her style is to mix and match: "I love designers, but there's so much stuff that's cheaper and still looks as cool. You really don't have to spend a ton of money and only wear Marc. Mischa Barton is 5'9" and has always been a skinny size 4, for which she was criticized. But in the photo above she seemed to have put on weight and once again Mischa was criticized for her "cellulite" and fat thighs! "I’ve always been accused of being too skinny, and then I’d put on weight. I used to get all the time, Are you anorexic? and now I get, Wow, you look too healthy. You’re putting on weight. So there’s something else wrong with you," Mischa told OK Magazine.


As for her diet Mischa says, "I’ve been a vegetarian before. Right now I’m not. I just eat good foods but I also have my junk food moments, but for the most part I just eat healthy." Sadly Mischa Barton smokes and had her troubles with drugs and alcohol. She was arrested in December 2007 for drunk driving; again in February, Mischa was charged with DUI and possession of marijuana, and received three years of probation, a three-month alcohol-education class and a $2,000 fine.

For her workouts Mischa Barton is into Yoga and Pilates but always looks to try out new things. "I love running with Charlie. I don’t have a personal trainer and I don’t consistently work out; I go through phases, and if there’s an exercise fad, I’ll check it out with my friends."
